There are so many pieces of advice online about search engine optimization companies who use spamming techniques to get results.

These are what we in the business commonly know as people who repeatedly break Google guidelines. These are what we like to call black hat optimization companies.

These companies break the optimization guidelines, which always end up getting a site penalised, or just end up getting very poor results.

On the other hand you have white hat optimization who always stick to Google guidelines and the guidelines of the other search engines which obviously leads to more satisfactory results for the customer. SEO is an art that requires every ingredient to be successful. The same as a chef would have to have the same for a recipe. I mean a turkey dinner wouldn't be the same with out the turkey, the same as optimization wouldn't be the same without the entire key factors put into place.

When a client comes to the search engine optimizer seeking advise on something they have read about in a forum about search engine optimization, it is the SEO's job to inform the client that not every optimization company works in the same way. It is also the SEO's job to let the client know the guide lines that would have to be followed to make the web site a success for each and every search engine.

Ever heard the saying the client is always rite? In some case's in this business this is not always true, the client needs to be advised on the best way of gaining results from the search engine whether it be just tweaking the existing site to make it more susceptible to search engine index, or working from scratch and considering keyword density and keyword frequency to gain a site that has trouble being spidered by search engines the key into free traffic and high search engine placements.

Also if the SEO notices that a potential clients site has already had spammy links added to the site and the search engines are not calculating these as relevant links to build PR. If this is the case the SEO's should notify the client that relevant quality PR links are needed to perform this task.

One more thing on how to be a successful SEO is actually listening to what the client wants to gain from website marketing. If you know what a client wants it is far easier to put together the correct formula to gain the client to desire the results on each search engine as each search engine has different criteria's and algorithms.
