Archaeologist's primary responsibility is organized study of past human life and culture by the recovery and examination of remaining material evidence, such as graves, buildings, tools, artworks, and human remains, to investigate the structure and behavior of past cultures. Archaeologists are the experts of archaeology a branch of anthropology that seeks to document and explain continuity, change, similarities and differences among human cultures. Archaeologists work with the material remains of cultures, past and present, providing the only source of information available for past non-literate societies and supplementing written sources for historical and contemporary groups. Archaeologists rely on tangible residue as clues to the emergence and development of human societies and civilizations.
Anthropological archaeology today is apprehensive with culture history and the explanation of cultural processes. A variety of different dating techniques, both relative and absolute are used to place events in time. Attempts at explaining evolutionary processes underlying prehistoric remains began with the conclusion that cultures may be divided into stages of progress based on the principal materials used for weapons and implements.
New archaeologists are also anxious with the appearance of different forms of difficult social institute, including chiefdoms, class stratification, and states. In recent years, a number of archaeologists have turned from customary concerns and have made efforts to rebuild ideological elements of vanished cultures.
There is still a marvelous emphasis in the performance of archaeology on field techniques and doctrines. These include the responsibilities of surveying areas in order to find new sites, and digging sites in order to uncover the cultural remains therein, and classification and preservation techniques in order to analyze and keep these remains. Each segment of this process can be a source of information.
Simply we can say that archaeologist is a person who explores the humanity sign if there were before some societies on the surface of the earth.
